Before applying

Why should I create an account? Is this required?
You do not have to create an account, but we highly recommend you do: By creating an account before you send your application, you are able to follow the status of your application and reuse your application form and files for another application.
What documents/information do I need to have available when filling in the application?
If you want to preview the questions of the application form, you can do this by clicking ”Preview” at the bottom of the first page of the form. You will be asked to include a resume/CV and a cover letter. It is very important that you send us both. You should have these ready before you begin filling in the application form. You may use attached documents (.doc, .docx, .txt, .rtf), paste or type into a text box, or, for your CV, use our Resume/CV Builder.
Does anyone look at the open applications? Is it worthwhile to leave one?
We are increasingly using open applications created in our candidate database and encourage you to fill in one. However, you should also browse for the new open jobs and apply directly to the ones you are interested in.

When filling in the form

When will my session expire? What does this mean?
Your session will expire after 20 minutes of inactivity. If your session expires before completing the application, all progress will be lost. This means that you should click “Next” or “Previous” on the bottom of the form before you have spent 20 minutes on any one page. The 20 minute expiration period will then start again. There is no maximum total time given for filling in the entire application. Note that you can return to previous pages using the “Previous” button.
Which browsers do you recommend for filling in the application?
Firefox, Internet Explorer 6 to 8, Chrome, Safari, etc. In general the compatibility is good for the most commonly used browsers.
Which language should I use when I fill in the application?
Normally, you should use the same language as the job advertisement is written in. If you want to be considered internationally, send your application in English.
Which file formats are accepted for attachments?
The cover letter and CV can be sent as .doc, .docx, .txt or .rtf. You may also include supporting documents, for which the following files formats are accepted: .doc, .docx, .rtf, .txt, .zip, .pdf, .jpg, .png, .gif, .avi, .mp3 and .mov. Please note that our HR personnel may search the application database. However, the search function can only return results from documents attached in .doc, .docx, .txt or .rtf formats.
How many supporting documents can I include?
In addition to your cover letter and resume/CV, you can include three other documents.
What is the maximum size of attachments?
Each file can be up to 150 KB in size.
What is the Resume/CV Builder?
If you do not have a resume/CV ready, you can use the Resume/CV Builder to create one. You will be asked to fill in information about your objective, work experience, education, skills, certifications, awards and memberships, and references.
The file I uploaded (.doc) does not look right in the preview. What can I do?
Some elements may move slightly in the preview, but you should not worry about this, our HR personnel are able to download your original file.

After applying

How do I know if KONE has received my application?
A confirmation email will be sent to the address you gave in your application.
How can I see the status of my application?
To be able to follow the status of your application or reuse your information in another application, you need to create a user account (and sign in) BEFORE you begin filling in the application. If you have created an account before applying, you can sign in on the “Apply now” page. Click “View My Account” and then “View Application Status”.
How long do you keep open applications?
Six months.
Can I extend the validity of my open application?
This can be done by reapplying.
Can I make changes to my application before the end of the application period?
Yes, if you created an account before sending your application.
Can I delete my application?
No, it is not possible.
How can I change my password?
If you know your password: sign in, click the tab “View My Account” and then the link “Update Your Password”. If you have forgotten your password: Click on “Sign In” and then “I have forgotten my password” on the bottom right.
How can I get information about new open positions via email or RSS?
If you have a user account you can save a "Search Agent". This means that you can save your search criteria and we will send you an email when a job matching your search opens. You can also subscribe to an RSS feed of the results. To do this, click the link “RSS” below your search results.
