March 21, 2013

KONE Corporation, press release, 21 March 2013

KONE has won an order for 31 lifts and four KONE TravelMaster® 110 escalators to be installed at the Hainan Tower, a landmark construction project in the city of Haikou, in the Southern Chinese province of Hainan. The order includes 28 KONE MiniSpace(TM) lifts and three KONE MonoSpace® lifts.

The KONE MiniSpace lifts have a maximum load capacity of 1,600 kg and will travel at a top speed of six metres per second. KONE will also supply its KONE E-Link remote equipment monitoring system to the project.

In addition to a 45-storey main building that rises to a height of nearly 200 metres, the project includes an 80-metre, 17-storey annex building and a lower podium. The commercial office building, which will also include shops and restaurants, is expected to be completed by the end of 2013 and will formally be opened to the public by the end of 2014.

"We are happy that our People Flow® solutions were chosen to help people move smoothly and without unnecessary delays in the Hainan Tower. Our traffic flow analysis tools helped us work with the customer to come up with the best solutions for this project", said William B. Johnson, Executive Vice President for KONE in Greater China.

The project is contracted by Beijing Construction Engineering Group Co. Ltd. and the building architects are Zhongxu Planning & Architecture Design Co. Ltd.

KONE booked the order in the last quarter of 2012.
