The flying fish of Shenzhen

Evoking the shape of a manta ray, Shenzhen Airport's new terminal nearly triples its capacity, handling approximately 14,000 passengers per hour during peak traffic.

The design and construction of the terminal took place over a demanding three-year schedule. After careful analysis and design, we provided a complete tailored solution comprising lifts, inclined autowalks and heavy-loading freight lifts to minimise passenger walking distance.

Design in mind

With roof spans as high as 80 metres, the new terminal is not only an architectural statement, but also a green masterpiece.

High-level eco-performance was a priority in all aspects of design. One of the most sophisticated among them are our lifts with their space-saving machine room-less design and energy-efficient KONE EcoDisc® hoisting motors, which achieve notable energy savings.

All our systems utilise variable frequency technology to reduce unnecessary energy consumption in this busy transit hub.

"KONE equipment performed seamlessly in three efficiency test drills, guaranteeing smooth people flow and receiving high recognition from our client", says Shang Rui Lin, KONE Project Manager.
